Every week, Out of the Sandbox gets numerous feature requests for our award-winning Shopify themes — and some of the most popular ones have been included in our brand new theme release, Turbo.

Behind the scenes, our development team tracks and evaluates each feature request based on the number of other users looking for it, plus other factors, to ensure we’re creating themes that meet merchant needs and are feature-rich, but also beautiful and functional. Here are some of the questions we ask ourselves when considering what to include:

  • Usability best practices: Does this feature adhere to best practices for ecommerce sites and user interaction?
  • Business impact: Will this feature enhance store owners’ ability to make more sales or grow their online businesses in other ways?
  • Quality control: Can we implement this feature in a way that meets our high standards for quality?
  • Aesthetics: Can this feature be designed in a way that meets our very high bar for design standards? (we admit it, we’re a picky bunch)
  • Documentation and support: Will we be able to easily explain how this feature works and provide quality support?
  • Popularity: Will this feature be used by a large portion of our theme users in a wide number of industries?

Here are some of the great new features in Turbo, the newest Shopify theme from Out of the Sandbox, that were on the top of our “most requested” feature list:

  1. Infinite scrolling: Let users explore large collections seamlessly.
  2. Lazy loading: Speed up your site by only loading image files when necessary.
  3. Mega menus: Offer your users a more comprehensive navigation system without an app.
  4. Footer menus: Make effective use of the footer area.
  5. Phone number: Display your phone number in the header to boost confidence and connect with shoppers.
  6. Secondary header menu: Add a secondary navigation menu to your header for contact, about us and other important pages.
  7. More homepage options: Create immersive homepages with stylish layouts that spotlight video, blog content, products, collections or just about anything else you can think of!
  8. Plus over three dozen more!

If your favorite feature isn’t included in Turbo (or any of our other themes) yet, don’t forget Out of the Sandbox offers complimentary theme upgrades — so as new features are added, you’ll be able to take advantage of them.

Hi Michael,

Turbo looks AMAZING, Bravo! Looking to upgrade in the new year and very excited. One question – I’ve had issues with the home page full width banner images in Parallax … I prefer a fixed size so I am sure everyone is seeing the image exactly as I have intended no matter their screen size or window size. Are Turbo’s full width banner image fixed or variable like in Parallax?

Thx

@Jon. We understand Turbo’s price is higher than other themes, but we feel it’s a fair deal considering the features and performance of the theme. We also have a four other great themes that are offered at lower price points.
