Today, we’ll see how one Shopify store owner is utilizing the color swatch and multiple product image preview feature and unique shopping cart to boost its site’s usability.
Many ecommerce sites need a Shopify theme that features custom color swatches while also letting shoppers view an item in multiple colors. Normally an advanced feature that requires expensive and time consuming custom programming, the Parallax Shopify theme supports both features right out of the box — something watch band maker Everest Brands takes full advantage of.
The name “color swatch” is actually a bit of a misnomer — because it also can be used to give users previews of different materials, patterns or, in the case of Everest, even leather colors.
Since most of its products available in multiple colors, Everest needs to not only let users indicate their color choice when ordering, but show off what the product actually looks like in that color.
The Parallax Shopify theme lets Everest accomplish just that — giving users bold, easy to see color swatches to click on, which also updates the product photo in real time to match their selection. Then, once a shopper settles on a color, the choice is already selected and ready to be added to their cart.
Once added to the cart, shoppers can easily see their order summary in the Ajax-powered slide-up shopping cart (another great Parallax theme feature) that’s presented automatically in an elegant overly, making it easy to quickly begin the checkout process or continue to browse other items.
